Perched at 850 feet above sea level, Valle Alta is no ordinary single vineyard. Beneath its sun-kissed surface lie prehistoric fossils, remnants of sea creatures that once shed their shells here, leaving behind the building blocks of the Earth itself. These fossil-rich marl soils lend Ugolini Valle Alta Amarone della Valpolicella 2013 a rare minerality, a signature touch that sets this Amarone apart. It’s the kind of acidity that whispers of time—enough to let this wine age gracefully for 30 years or more.
Refined in French barrique for two years, followed by an additional year in large French oak casks, this Amarone was then left to rest in glass for four long years. Released from the cellar at the end of 2020, the wine has continued its magical evolution in our temperature-controlled warehouse, perfectly preserved to showcase its grandeur.
Deep, velvety layers of ripe cherries, figs, and cocoa unfold with each sip, while that unique minerality anchors the wine’s complexity. No wonder it was named one of the top 100 wines of Italy at the Merano Wine Competition. This isn’t just a wine; it’s a journey through time, a tribute to the origins of the Earth, and a collector’s treasure now available at ItalianWine.Store.
